Child sexual abuse (CSA) is when a child is forced or persuaded to take part in sexual activities. This may involve physical contact or non-contact activities and can happen online or offline. Abuse, sexual ( child ): generally defined as contacts between a child and an adult or other person significantly older or in a position of power or control over the child , where the child is being used for sexual stimulation of the adult or other person. In India, an alarming statistic reveals that one in every two children has endured sexual abuse before turning 18, predominantly at the hands of family members or individuals known to them. Tragically, this issue has escalated further during the pandemic-induced lockdown. Almost 20,000 webpages of child sexual abuse imagery IWF assessed in the first half of 2022 included ‘self-generated’ content of 7-to-10-year-old children.
