Emergency Provisions - Article 352 to 360 - Constitution of India - 352 . Proclamation of Emergency. 353. Effect of Proclamation of Emergency. The Indian Constitution authorizes the President to declare three types of emergencies, National Emergency under Article 352 , State Emergency (also known as President’s Rule) under Article 356, and Financial Emergency under Article 360. Article 352 (4) of COI provides that proclamation under this article shall be laid before each House of the Parliament and shall cease to operate at the expiration of one month unless before this period it has been approved by resolutions of both the Houses. National Emergency ( Article 352 ) in India, as one of the three types of emergencies provided for by the Indian Constitution, remains a crucial tool in the hand of the Central Government to meet any abnormal situation effectively.
