Zarina Hashmi (née Rashid; 16 July 1937 – 25 April 2020), known professionally as Zarina, was an Indian American artist and printmaker based in New York City . Her work spans drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. The offical website of Indian artist Zarina . Known as a printmaker, Zarina used various mediums of printmaking, woodblocks, lithography, and silkscreen. Zarina ’s work is included in major international institutions such as the MoMA, the Whitney and the Metropolitan Museums in New York. Zarina Hashmi (1937-2020) was an Indian-born, American artist. Born in Aligarh, British India, she received a mathematics degree from the Aligarh Muslim University in 1958. Born in Aligarh in 1937, Zarina Hashmi received a B.Sc. degree with honours from the city’s Muslim University in 1958 before she turned to the study of printmaking in India and then abroad.
