Virtual Labs is a Ministry of Education project that offers over 190 online simulations across various domains using open-source technologies. Students, faculty, experts, developers, and other stakeholders can access and use these interactive and remote experiments for learning and teaching. Engineering Education is incomplete without hands on learning of real systems. IIT Kharagpur having a very strong base in Theory of Engineering Systems has developed a large amount of lecture material which is disseminated through the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) in the form of Video or Web based content for each theory course in Engineering Sciences. The Virtual Labs project addresses this issue of lack of good lab facilities, as well as trained teachers, by providing remote-access to simulation-based Labs in various disciplines of science and engineering.
