The Umiam Lake also called Barapani is an artificial lake in the Meghalaya state of India. Located in the district of East Khasi Hills, Umiam Lake occupies an area of about 220 square kilometers; therefore, it is one of the most beautiful resort hills for tourists ... The Umiam Lake viewpoint, especially during sunset, is a magical experience that adds to its allure. Umiam Lake is a scenic reservoir and a popular tourist spot in Shillong, Meghalaya. It offers various water sport activities, a garden, islands and panoramic views of the East Khasi Hills. Umiam Lake offers absolutely gorgeous views and is a must-visit if you are around Shillong. We couldn’t do boating as it was raining on and off during our visit, but even just sitting and taking in the scenery was worth it. From the parking lot, there’s a short walk to the lake — easily doable.
