Swachh Survekshan 2025 ranks Madurai as India's dirtiest city among metros, with Ludhiana, Chennai, and Delhi also struggling with urban sanitation challenges. The Swachh Survekshan Grameen (2025) is being conducted through an independent survey agency to provide the national ranking of all States/UTs and Districts on the basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation (Swachhata) parameters. The overarching objective of “Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG 2025)” is to provide national ranking of all States/UTs and Districts of India on the basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation parameters as identified under SBM-G Phase II. President Droupadi Murmu presented the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25 Awards on July 17 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Every year, cities across India compete in the Swachh Survekshan to be ranked the cleanest. The survey evaluates waste management, street cleanliness, and public participation.
