Ramanujan made substantial contributions to the analytical theory of numbers and worked on elliptic functions, continued fractions, and infinite series. Ramanujan spent the last five years at Trinity College, working in collaboration with Hardy. Despite his lack of required qualifications, he was allowed to enroll at Trinity College, where he got his Bachelor of Science degree in less than two years. He published many papers in London. Srinivasa Ramanujan was largely self-taught and had no formal education in mathematics beyond basic school education. He attended local schools in Kumbakonam, his hometown in Tamil Nadu, India. Ramanujan, a self-taught genius, redefined mathematics by conceiving pi as an elegant fraction and solving ancient puzzles like partitions. His breakthroughs, inspired by dreams of the goddess Namagiri, came without formal training. Even decades after his death, his lost notebook continues to challenge and inspire mathematicians worldwide.
