POSHAN Abhiyaan is a people's movement to improve nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers. POSHAN Abhiyaan is the flagship programme of Government of India was launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister on 8th March 2018 in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. The focus of Abhiyaan is to lay emphasis on nutritional status of adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers and children from 0-6 years of age. Poshan Abhiyaan is a flagship scheme to improve nutritional outcomes for various groups in India. It aims to create a convergent eco-system to develop and promote practices that nurture health, wellness and immunity. The Ministry of Women and Child Development launched the National Nutrition Mission - the Poshan Abhiyaan - placing special emphasis on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, from conception until 2 years of age. Between 2018 and 2022, the World Bank supported India’s Poshan Abhiyaan nationwide with financial and technical assistance.
