Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana ( PMUY ) is a flagship scheme to make clean cooking fuel such as LPG available to the rural and deprived households which were otherwise using traditional cooking fuels such as firewood, coal, cow-dung cakes etc. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is an ambitious social welfare scheme of Narendra Modi Government launched on 1st May 2016 from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh. Under the PM Ujjwala Yojana , the government aims to provide LPG connections to BPL households in the country. The Ujjwala Yojana 2025 has been recently announced by the PM of India. The government offers free gas connections to BPL cardholder families and women from low-income rural households under this program.
