Naba Kishore Das , former Health & Family Welfare Minister, was assassinated in broad daylight on January 29, 2023. Gopal Das , an on-duty police official, shot him from a short distance while the then minister was alighting from his car to attend a meeting scheduled at Brajarajnagar. A suo motu FIR lodged by the Inspector-In-Charge of Brajarajnagar police station said that the accused ASI had opened fire on Odisha Health minister 'with a clear intention to kill'. Odisha Health Minister Naba Das succumbed to his injuries on Sunday after he was shot by a policeman during an event in Jharsuguda district. The BJP government in Odisha has announced a reinvestigation into the murder of former health minister Naba Kishore Das , who was shot dead in January 2023. The decision follows demands from Das 's family to ensure the culprits are brought to justice.
