Kanda Shasti Kavasam or Skanda Sashti Kavasam is a devotional song on Lord Muruga that was composed by Devaraya Swamigal. The song is in the form of a plea to Lord Muruga to bestow his grace. Kanda Myojin Shrine enshrines three deities: Daikokuten - the god of good harvest and matrimony, Ebisu - the god of fishermen and businessmen, and Taira Masakado - a popular rebel lord of the 10th century. People visit the shrine to pray for prosperity. The Kanda Festival, reputedly one of the three great festivals of Japan, is the festival of the Kanda Myojin Shrine. Onions, known broadly as Pyaz in Hindi and Kanda in several regional languages like Marathi and Gujarati, stand as an indispensable cornerstone of Indian cuisine. Kanda is a beautiful historical village which is situated in heart of Kumaon in Bageshwar district near main bageshwar city.
