Yoav Gallant is an Israeli politician who served as Israel’s defense minister (2022–24) during much of the Israel-Hamas War. He was one of the three decision-making members of the war cabinet, alongside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fired Defense Minister Yoav Gallant after months of clashes over domestic politics and Israel’s war efforts. Yoav Gallant had emerged as one of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s fiercest and most public critics over his approach to the war in Gaza and the failure to reach a hostage deal with Hamas.
