The 2024 Global Hunger Index (GHI) score for the world is 18.3, considered moderate, down only slightly from the 2016 score of 18.8. This global score obscures wide variations in hunger by region. In the 2025 Global Hunger Index , India ranks 102nd out of the 123 countries with sufficient data to calculate 2025 GHI scores. With a score of 25.8 in the 2025 Global Hunger Index , India has a level of hunger that is serious. The results within this 2025 Global Hunger Index report supersede all previous GHI results. The 2000, 2008, and 2016 scores and indicator data contained within this report are currently the only data that can be used for valid comparisons of the GHI over time. The Global Hunger Index is a peer-reviewed annual report, jointly published by Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe, designed to comprehensively measure and track hunger at the global , regional, and country levels. The aim of the GHI is to trigger action to reduce hunger around the world.
