Flynn Rider (born Eugene Fitzherbert) is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Animation Studios' 50th animated feature film Tangled, and its short film Tangled Ever After. Flynn Rider, also known as Eugene Fitzherbert, is the charming and quick-witted thief from Disney’s Tangled. He serves as the secondary protagonist in Disney’s 2010 animated movie and holds similar roles in Tangled Ever After, Tangled: Before Ever After, and Tangled: The Series. Originally written as a British farmer, Flynn was ultimately developed into a swashbuckling thief inspired by fictional characters Han Solo and Indiana Jones, and actors Gene Kelly and Errol Flynn; the alias Flynn Rider was named after the latter. Eugene Fitzherbert—or Flynn Rider, as he’s better known—breaks the mold when it comes to Disney princes. Modeled after the charming rascals of Errol Flynn’s cinematic era, Rider struts across the screen with a cavalier attitude that’s as infectious as it is refreshing.
