Bharatmala project: Bharatmala Pariyojana was approved by Government
Bharatmala Pariyojana was approved by Government of India in 2017 covering a length of 34,800 km to improve connectivity and reduce logistic cost in the country. As on 31.10.2024, projects covering a total length of 26,425 km have been awarded and 18,714 km has been constructed. The scheme involves construction of various categories of roads, such as Economic Corridors, Inter Corridors, National Corridor Efficiency Improvement, Border and International Connectivity roads, Coastal and Port Connectivity roads and Green-field expressways. Bharatmala Pariyojana is a comprehensive road development programme to improve connectivity, efficiency and logistics in India. It includes 34,800 km of Economic Corridors, Inter Corridors, Feeder Routes, Expressways, Coastal and Border Roads, and ongoing projects.
