Amendment not to affect reservation in the House of the People, the Legislative Assembly of a State or the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment ) Act, 2023 has been unanimously passed from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The Bill seeks to reserve one-third of the total number of seats in Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies for women. It attempts to analyse the provisions of the 106th Constitutional Amendment , which dealt with reservation of women in legislative bodies and the political participation of women. Finally, in September 2023, this Amendment was passed by both Houses of Parliament with resounding support, marking a major victory for gender equality and inclusive governance in India .
