IGNWPS (Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme) is a centrally sponsored social security scheme for widows belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) households. This is a State scheme under which destitute or deserted women and widow of 18 years of age or above are given pension as per eligibility criteria laid down in the rules of the scheme. Widow Pension Objective: To provide financial assistance to destitute widows aged 18 to 60 years who live below the poverty line and support them to live honorably. Also known as Vidhwa Pension Yojana, the Widow Pension Scheme is a social security initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to widows in India. This scheme helps ensure a stable source of income for widowed women who may not have any other means of financial support.
