Dr. Vinay Lal is a cultural critic, writer, and professor of history and Asian American studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He earned his BA and MA from Johns Hopkins University in 1982. Vinay Lal was born in Delhi and raised in India, Indonesia, Japan, and the United States. He studied literature, history, and philosophy as an undergraduate, and earned his B.A. from the Humanities Center at Johns Hopkins University in 1982. On 15 August 2005, she started the Tara Charitable Trust, which helps underprivileged people by providing medical, educational, and emotional support.
