Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda was born on December 2, 1960, to Dr. Narain Lal Nadda and Shrimati Krishna Nadda . He received his early education at St. Xavier's School, Patna. His father was a professor at Patna University and later became the Vice-Chancellor of Ranchi University. As a child, he participated in the relay fast as part of the J.P . movement against the then Congress Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Abdul Gafur.
