The glucose tolerance test ( GTT , not to be confused with GGT test) is a medical test in which glucose is given and blood samples taken afterward to determine how quickly it is cleared from the blood. [1] . The Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) is a diagnostic test used to measure the body's ability to process glucose. It helps detect conditions like diabetes mellitus, gestational diabetes, and insulin resistance. The Glucose Tolerance Test ( GTT ) is the most sensitive test for detecting borderline diabetes mellitus. Glucose tolerance means ability of the body to utilize glucose in the circulation. It is indicated by the nature of blood glucose curve following the administration of glucose. Thus “glucose tolerance test” is a valuable diagnostic aid in the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, insulin resistance, impaired beta-cell functionnand sometimes reactive hypoglycemia and acromegaly.
