The name of the Wat translates to “Temple of the Sacred Hariphunchai Relic”. Lamphun is one of Thailand’s oldest cities. Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is believed to have been founded in 1150 by the reigning king of the Hariphunchai Kingdom.
